Maintenance Manager - School

Location: Atherstone

Salary: £23,907 - £35,360 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience

Hours: Full-time - hours to be discussed

Pertemps are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to join a school in Atherstone. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep, safety and security of the school site.

You will play an important role in ensuring the school remains safe, well-maintained and fully operational, while working closely with the Headteacher, staff, contractors and external stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security and general upkeep of the school site
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance across the building and grounds
  • Undertake basic carpentry, plumbing, decorating, flooring and general repair work
  • Monitor and maintain health & safety standards across the site
  • Complete regular site inspections, audits and statutory checks
  • Liaise with and oversee contractors, checking the quality and completion of their work
  • Manage building security, including opening/closing the site, alarms and emergency callouts
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm checks and monitor internal and external lighting
  • Ensure external areas, pathways and school equipment are safe and well maintained
  • Assist with furniture and equipment moves and daily room setups
  • Manage deliveries and ensure items are distributed appropriately
  • Assist with cleaning duties, waste management, recycling and general site tidiness
  • Carry out minor ground's maintenance, including litter picking, leaf clearance and gritting
  • Support the school with lettings, including preparing areas and completing post-letting checks
  • Assist with emergency procedures and out-of-hours site emergencies
  • Carry out project and maintenance works during school holidays
  • Safely drive and maintain the school's minibus when required

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or site-based role
  • Good practical knowledge across general building maintenance
  • Experience with basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and general repairs
  • Strong understanding of health & safety requirements
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Able to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Flexible, reliable and willing to support the wider school team
  • Comfortable liaising with contractors, staff and external visitors
  • A positive and professional approach to working in a school environment

Training will be provided where required

including areas such as Child Protection, SEND, First Aid, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Risk Assessment and COSHH.
