Creative Psychotherapist – Specialist School Location: Essex Contract: Full-time, Permanent Start: ASAP Age Group: KS3–KS4 We are recruiting for a Creative Psychotherapist to join a specialist therapeutic school in Essex, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified therapist who is passionate about working therapeutically with children and young people with SEMH needs, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and associated SEND. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide individual and group therapeutic interventions while working closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals to ensure pupils receive consistent and effective therapeutic support. Key responsibilities include: Delivering individual and group therapy sessions tailored to pupils’ individual needs Assessing pupils and developing appropriate therapeutic programmes Supporting young people with SEMH needs, trauma, attachment difficulties and emotional development Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals Contributing to EHCP targets, therapeutic progress plans and reports Liaising with families and external professionals, including CAMHS and social care Providing therapeutic support within the classroom where appropriate Supporting pupil transitions and reintegration Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional practiceThe successful candidate will be a fully qualified therapist with appropriate professional registration and experience within their therapeutic specialism. Experience working with children or young people in challenging contexts is essential, alongside experience supporting pupils with SEND and behaviours that challenge. You will have a strong understanding of child development, SEMH, SEND, trauma and attachment, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
