Freelance Site Engineer – Civils 📍 Bristol / North Somerset 💼 Freelance – Outside IR35 📅 12 Months 💷 Competitive Day Rate 🚀 Start: Mid October 2026 We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in the Bristol / North Somerset area. Working for an established civil engineering contractor, you will be involved in the delivery of a varied civils package incorporating groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete retaining structures and external works. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term freelance position on a significant infrastructure scheme that will provide an important new asset for the local area and surrounding communities. Key Responsibilities • Setting out and surveying works across the project. • Setting out groundworks, drainage, RC structures and external works. • Managing QA documentation, ITPs and as-built records. • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements. • Liaising with site management, subcontractors and client representatives. • Monitoring quality standards throughout the works. • Providing technical support to the wider site team. • Assisting with the planning and coordination of daily site activities. Requirements • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects. • Strong setting out experience across groundworks and drainage packages. • Experience with reinforced concrete works would be highly advantageous. • Competent with robotic total station / GPS equipment. • Strong understanding of QA processes and construction drawings. • CSCS card. • Relevant engineering qualification preferred. • Able to work independently and as part of the wider project team.
