Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the SL2 area of Slough to appoint a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and covering lessons across the school.
This role would suit a confident, enthusiastic, and adaptable individual with a passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and school leaders to support learning across the curriculum. You will deliver planned lessons, lead intervention groups, and provide targeted support to pupils, helping to raise attainment and encourage positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
Lead small group and 1:1 interventions to accelerate pupil progress
Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND
Assist with assessment, recording progress, and providing feedback
Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations within the classroom
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Help create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Contribute to the wider life of the school where appropriate
Requirements
HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role
Previous experience working within a primary school setting
Strong classroom management skills
Confidence delivering lessons across multiple year groups
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Passion for supporting children's academic and personal development
Desirable
Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs
Experience leading intervention groups in English and Maths
Knowledge of the UK Primary Curriculum
First Aid or additional educational qualifications
Experience covering classes across different key stages
