Leak Detection Technician Location: West of the M25 / West London – covering London and surrounding areas Salary: £30,320 per annum + overtime opportunities Hours: 40 hours per week Contract: Permanent, Full Time Company Vehicle: Provided for business use Start Date: ASAP Starkey Recruitment Group is recruiting for a Leak Detection Technician to join a well-established organisation operating within the water and utilities sector. This is a field-based position ideally suited to someone located west of the M25, as the territory is particularly busy and will include regular work across Central London. You will work from home and travel directly to customer sites each day according to your scheduled workload. There may also occasionally be a requirement to travel elsewhere within the UK. The Role As a Leak Detection Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out leak detection, water auditing and meter-reading activities across a portfolio of customer sites. Your duties will include: Using leak detection equipment and techniques to accurately locate water leaks Working with equipment including CAT & Genny, listening sticks, correlators and ground microphones Investigating water usage and identifying possible causes of high consumption Carrying out visual site assessments and practical flow and usage tests Providing recommendations to customers to help reduce water consumption Taking accurate water meter readings Recording site findings, readings and technical information accurately Producing clear and detailed leak detection and water audit reports Providing sufficient information to allow subsequent repair work to be completed Updating records using company software and mobile applications Working safely and following all relevant health and safety procedures Meeting customer and company KPIs What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is practical, self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a field-based environment. The successful candidate should demonstrate: Experience in leak detection, water networks, utilities, plumbing, drainage or a similar field-based technical role would be advantageous Good practical and problem-solving ability Accuracy when recording readings, data and site notes Good written communication skills for producing reports Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills Ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload A self-motivated and disciplined approach Patience and tenacity when investigating difficult-to-locate leaks Good health and safety awareness Confidence using mobile apps and basic computer systems Training can be provided in water auditing and relevant company systems where required. Driving Requirements Due to the field-based nature of the position, applicants must: Hold a full, clean UK driving licence Be aged 25 or over to comply with the company's vehicle insurance requirements Be comfortable travelling throughout London and surrounding areas A company vehicle will be provided for business use only. Salary & Benefits £30,320 per annum, with opportunities to increase earnings through overtime.
