Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum
Bonus: Performance-related bonuses
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Home: Brand-new 3-bed EBD children’s home
Sponsorship: Not available
We are recruiting an experienced Registered Manager to lead a brand-new 3-bed children’s residential home in Sutton Coldfield.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a new home from registration and set-up through to opening and its first Ofsted inspection.
You will be joining an established children’s residential care provider that already operates two homes, both rated Good by Ofsted, with experienced senior leadership and ongoing plans for growth.

The Role
As Registered Manager, you will:
Lead the registration, set-up and opening of the new home
Manage the home in line with its Statement of Purpose
Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
Maintain strong safeguarding and safer care practice
Prepare the home and staff team for Ofsted inspection
Recruit, lead, supervise and develop the residential care team
Maintain safe and effective staffing levels
Ensure children receive safe, high-quality and child-centred care
Oversee care planning, risk assessments, safeguarding and audits
Monitor staff performance and support professional development
Work closely with Local Authorities, education professionals and external agencies
Manage budgets and operational requirements
Drive continuous improvement across the service
Work towards achieving a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating
About You
We are looking for an experienced children’s residential care professional who is confident leading a home and developing a team.
You should have:
Strong experience within children’s residential care
Previous supervisory or management experience
Good knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
Strong understanding of safeguarding and safer care practice
Experience leading, supervising and developing staff
Experience working with care plans and risk assessments
Confidence managing performance, conflict and challenging situations
Strong communication and organisational skills
The resilience and leadership skills required to manage a busy children’s home
Qualifications
Ideally, you will hold:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
Candidates currently working towards the qualification may also be considered.
A Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3 qualification is also required.
Salary & Bonus Package
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Additional bonuses include:
* £1,500 for achieving a Good Ofsted rating
* £2,500 for achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating
* £1,250 placement bonus for Child A
* £1,250 placement bonus for Child B
* £1,250 placement bonus for Child C
Ofsted and placement bonuses are subject to qualifying criteria and length of service requirements.
