Functional Skills Tutor - St Helens
Location: St Helens
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
Prospero Teaching are seeking an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 tuition to a learner in St Helens.
This role would suit an educator who is confident supporting learners who may have gaps in their education and can break down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver tailored Functional Skills tuition
Support development in Maths and/or English
Identify areas requiring additional support
Plan lessons around individual learning goals
Use varied resources and teaching strategies
Encourage engagement and confidence
Monitor learner progress
Requirements
Experience delivering Functional Skills tuition
Strong knowledge of Maths and/or English
Previous teaching or tutoring experience
Experience supporting young people
Flexible and learner-centred approach
Excellent communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
Right to Work in the UK
Two professional child-related references
