SEN Teaching Assistant – Bovingdon Location: Bovingdon area Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-time Pay: £85–£115 per day (dependent on experience) Supply Desk are currently looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in the Bovingdon area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them to overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will work alongside teachers, SENCOs and support staff to provide targeted support tailored to individual pupils, helping them to access the curriculum, develop their confidence and make meaningful progress. We are looking for someone who is patient, nurturing and adaptable, with a genuine commitment to creating a positive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their potential. Key Responsibilities: Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs Support pupils with needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities and providing appropriate learning support Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence, independence and self-esteem Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction and positive behaviour Monitor pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing and communicate relevant information to teachers and SENCOs Use appropriate support strategies to meet individual learning and behavioural needs Encourage pupils to participate actively in lessons and develop greater independence Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment Role Requirements: Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is preferred Understanding of a range of SEN needs and appropriate strategies for supporting pupils Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A calm, patient and consistent approach to supporting positive behaviour A genuine passion for education and helping children and young people succeed Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding Previous experience within a primary or secondary school is desirable What we offer: Comprehensive safeguarding training Weekly payments Ongoing support from experienced, local education consultants A supportive team and environment Excellently equipped facilities Opportunities for continued professional development (CPD and training) Refer a friend scheme This role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEN support who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
