Site Mechanical Engineer / Pump Service Engineer
Location: Harlow, Essex
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm | Friday 8:00am–3:30pm
Overtime: Available and paid at premium rates
The Opportunity
We are working with an established engineering business in Harlow that is looking to appoint an experienced Site Mechanical Engineer / Pump Service Engineer.
This is a hands-on position combining customer-site and workshop work, servicing, maintaining, overhauling and repairing pumps, motors and other industrial rotating equipment.
You will primarily cover customer sites within approximately a 50-mile radius of Harlow, so a full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Service, maintain and repair industrial pumps.
Strip, inspect, overhaul and rebuild pumps.
Replace mechanical seals, bearings and other components.
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
Repair and rebuild single-phase and three-phase electric motors.
Service industrial fans and blower units.
Work on industrial gearboxes and rotating machinery.
Carry out mechanical assembly and disassembly.
Undertake fault finding on mechanical and associated electrical systems.
Work with electrical controls where required.
Test repaired and refurbished equipment.
Complete service reports and job documentation.
Liaise directly with customers while working on site.
Attend breakdowns and emergency call-outs when required.
Travel to customer sites within approximately 50 miles of Harlow.
Support workshop activities when required.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 5 years' experience in mechanical/electrical engineering.
Strong experience repairing and servicing industrial pumps and/or electric motors.
Experience with bearings, mechanical seals and pump overhauls.
Experience working with industrial fans, blowers, gearboxes or similar machinery.
Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
Experience with single and three-phase motors.
Good electrical awareness; electrical controls experience is advantageous.
Ability to work independently at customer sites.
Good customer-facing communication skills.
A full UK driving licence.
The right to work in the UK.
Experience with freshwater or sewage pumps would be particularly useful.
