Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Newport, South Wales Salary: £40,000 to £60,000 Job Type: Permanent Working Pattern: Full-time FC Engineering Recruitment is working with an established engineering business in Newport who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an opportunity for a mechanical design engineer to work on a range of engineering projects, developing and improving mechanical products and systems from concept through to manufacture. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies and products. Key responsibilities will include: * Producing detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings * Developing mechanical designs from initial concept through to manufacture * Designing components, assemblies and mechanisms * Producing manufacturing drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials * Working closely with manufacturing and production teams * Supporting prototype development, testing and design improvements * Reviewing and modifying existing designs where required * Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering and quality requirements * Working with suppliers and other departments to resolve technical issues * Contributing to continuous improvement and new product development You will ideally have: * Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar * A relevant mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience * Strong experience using 3D CAD * Experience producing detailed engineering drawings * Good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles * Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills * Good communication and organisational skills * The ability to manage your own workload and work to project deadlines Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment would be advantageous.
