Transport Planner Required!
Location: Southampton
Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30 - 5:00
Salary: Up to £36,000 DOE
Our client is an established and growing independent freight forwarding and logistics company based in Southampton, operating a busy transport operation across the UK.
On behalf of our client, we are looking to recruit an experienced Transport Planner to join their transport team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating container and general haulage movements, working closely with customers, drivers, subcontractors and the wider operations team.

Transport Planner - Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate UK container and general haulage movements
Plan and route company vehicles and subcontractors efficiently
Input and maintain transport jobs on the company transport management system
Liaise with customers, drivers and subcontractors to ensure transport requirements are met
Monitor vehicle movements and deal with any delays or operational issues
Provide regular updates to customers and internal teams
Book Vehicle Booking System (VBS) slots with UK ports
Obtain transport quotations and assist with pricing jobs
Ensure transport jobs are completed accurately and efficiently
Work closely with the wider operations team to meet daily transport requirements
Provide general support to the transport operation when required
Transport Planner - Requirements:
Previous experience within a UK transport planning or transport operations role
Experience planning vehicles and coordinating transport movements
Good understanding of UK geography and road networks
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities
Confident making decisions in a busy operational environment
Proactive approach with good problem-solving skills
Previous experience with container haulage or port operations is essential
Experience with VBS and UK port booking systems would be advantageous
Knowledge of TOPS or a similar transport management system would be beneficial
Understanding of Driver Hours Regulations and transport compliance would be advantageous
