Job Description
Job Title: Temporary Accommodation Officer
Location: South East England
Rate: £22.00 - £28.00 per hour
Contract: 6 Months
Working Pattern: Full Time
Temporary Accommodation Officer required for a Local Authority in the South East on an initial 6-month contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of temporary accommodation placements for homeless households, ensuring statutory duties are met and accommodation is maintained to a high standard. You will work closely with landlords, accommodation providers, and internal housing teams to minimise voids and support residents throughout their placement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a portfolio of temporary accommodation properties and placements.
• Arrange and coordinate placements for applicants owed housing duties.
• Conduct property inspections to ensure accommodation meets required standards.
• Liaise with landlords, managing agents, accommodation providers, and contractors.
• Manage tenancy and licence agreements within temporary accommodation.
• Address occupancy issues, breaches of licence conditions, and neighbour disputes.
• Support homeless households throughout their placement and move-on process.
• Monitor rent accounts and work with residents to reduce arrears.
• Investigate and respond to complaints and service requests.
• Maintain accurate records using housing management systems.
• Ensure compliance with homelessness legislation and housing standards.
Requirements:
• Previous experience within a Temporary Accommodation, Housing Management, Housing Needs, or Homelessness role.
• Knowledge of relevant housing and homelessness legislation.
• Experience managing temporary accommodation placements and providers.
• Strong customer service and case management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
• Full UK driving licence desirable.
