Mobile Forklift Engineer
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Salary: £37,000 – £43,000 basic + overtime (OTE £50,000+)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 (40 hours)
Overtime: Paid at 1.5x
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
The Opportunity
Interaction Technical are working with a well-established and growing Material Handling and Access Solutions business to recruit an experienced Forklift Engineer to join their expanding team of mobile engineers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Forklift Engineer or Plant Engineer looking for a secure, long-term position with excellent earning potential, paid travel time, a company vehicle and ongoing technical development.
You will work predominantly at customer sites across the region, carrying out planned servicing, diagnostics, repairs and emergency breakdown work on a range of forklift and material-handling equipment.
The Package
£37,000 – £43,000 basic salary
Door-to-door travel time paid
Overtime paid at 1.5x, with regular overtime available
25 days annual leave + public holidays – 33 days total
Company van and fuel card
All travel time and expenses paid when travelling to customer sites
Full training and development across mechanical and electrical systems, diagnostics and fault finding

The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping customers' material-handling equipment operational and minimising downtime.
Your responsibilities will include:
Diagnosing faults and carrying out servicing, repairs and emergency breakdown work on forklifts and plant machinery
Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
Working on engines, batteries, hydraulics and pneumatics
Attending customer sites and providing professional technical support
Working independently while maintaining strong communication with customers and colleagues
Identifying faults and developing effective solutions to minimise equipment downtime
Completing service reports, documentation and job records accurately
Building strong working relationships with customers and providing a high standard of service
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience working within the forklift, plant or material-handling industry – essential
Strong experience with hydraulics – essential
Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Experience working with engines and batteries – essential
Previous experience carrying out servicing, repairs and diagnostics
The ability to work independently at customer sites
A professional and customer-focused approach
A full UK driving licence
An NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering would be advantageous.
