Job Description
Branta is partnering with a growing, professional business based in North London to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with 1 to 3 years of experience. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious commercial professional to support an expanding portfolio of small commercial projects while accelerating their career within a structured, supportive environment. In this role, you will build upon your existing commercial foundation, gaining hands-on exposure to cost management, client liaison, procurement, and project valuations across commercial construction and fit-out developments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist with the commercial management of small commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects from tender stage to final account. * Review drawings, tender specifications, and contract documentation to prepare accurate bill of quantities and cost plans. * Subcontractor management: assist in issuing enquiries, comparing quotes, placing orders, and processing monthly valuations and payments. * Carry out site visits to measure progress, assess variations, and verify work completed on site. * Prepare cost value reconciliations (CVRs), budget updates, and financial reports alongside the senior commercial team. * Communicate professionally with end clients, main contractors, sub-contractors, and internal operational teams. * Maintain accurate commercial records, change logs, and final account documentation. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * 1 to 3 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Assistant role within commercial construction, fit-out, or refurbishments. * HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (desirable, or working towards). * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, paired with a practical, solutions-focused mindset. * Confident communication and interpersonal skills for client and subcontractor interaction. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial/estimating software. * Full UK Driving Licence (essential for site visits across North London and surrounding areas). * Proactive attitude with a desire to take ownership of commercial tasks and progress within the business.
