Kitchen Assistant – Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Location: Sparkbrook, Birmingham
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term temporary
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday
We are currently recruiting for a Kitchen Assistant to join a school in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, on a long-term basis, starting ASAP.
The successful candidate will support the school's catering team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health and safety.
Working Hours
Monday: 8:45am – 2:45pm
Tuesday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
Wednesday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
Thursday: 9:45am – 2:45pm
Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with food preparation and service
Supporting the catering team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
Washing up and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas
Assisting with stock and deliveries as required
Following food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times
Supporting with other general kitchen duties as required
Requirements
Previous kitchen or catering experience is desirable
Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety
Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to work in a busy school kitchen environment
Previous experience working within a school environment would be advantageous

As this is a school-based role, all candidates will be required to successfully complete Supply Register's full vetting and compliance process prior to commencing work, including:
Enhanced DBS check – candidates on the DBS Update Service are preferred
Satisfactory employment references
