Deputy Catering Assistant – Sparkbrook, Birmingham Location: Sparkbrook, Birmingham Start Date: ASAP Contract: Long-term temporary Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:00pm Friday: 7:00am – 1:00pm We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Catering Assistant to join a school in Sparkbrook, Birmingham on a long-term basis. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the school kitchen, working alongside the catering team to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the service. This is a varied role involving both hands-on kitchen duties and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate will need to be confident with placing orders, completing paperwork and supporting with the organisational side of the catering operation. Key Responsibilities: Supporting the day-to-day running of the school kitchen Assisting with food preparation and general kitchen duties Placing food and catering orders Completing catering paperwork and maintaining relevant records Supporting with stock control and monitoring supplies Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety Supporting the wider catering team as required Providing catering support for school events, including after-school events such as awards evenings Requirements: Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment is essential Good organisational and administrative skills Experience with ordering, stock control and catering paperwork would be advantageous Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health & safety Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexibility to support occasional after-school events is essential This is an excellent long-term opportunity for an experienced kitchen/catering professional who is looking to take on additional responsibility and develop their administrative skills within a school environment.
