Field Service Engineer Home-Based | UK Travel Required £41,000 - £48,303.32 + 12.5% Shift Allowance Company Vehicle Provided Work Lyf Group are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering organisation for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their Contract Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with strong diesel engine experience to work on a fleet of locomotives across the UK, providing both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure maximum reliability and operational performance. The Role Working predominantly as a lone engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, repairs, fault finding, and modifications across customer sites throughout the UK. You will play a vital role in ensuring fleet availability while delivering exceptional service standards. Key Responsibilities * Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. * Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults. * Complete reliability inspections and preventative maintenance checks. * Identify potential fleet issues and recommend corrective actions. * Participate in a rolling day/night on-call rota. * Provide technical support and advice to customers and colleagues. * Complete all maintenance documentation accurately and on time. * Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and industry regulations. * Support continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing fleet upgrades. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: * Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent experience. * BTEC National Certificate, ONC in Engineering, or similar qualification. * Proven experience working with diesel engines and associated systems. * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. * Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach. * The ability to work independently and manage your own workload. * Strong communication and customer service skills. * Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable * Rail industry experience. * Personal Track Safety (PTS). * Emergency First Aid qualification. * Safety Critical competence experience.
