Functional Skills Tutor Help Learners Develop Essential Skills for Everyday Success We're looking for a Functional Skills Tutor to support children and young people across West Sussex through personalised 1:1 tuition. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll help learners develop key English and Maths skills, supporting them to build confidence, improve engagement, and work towards meaningful educational outcomes. Many of the students we support require alternative educational provision and benefit from a practical, personalised approach that focuses on both academic and real-world development. We're particularly interested in tutors who can support learners in: Crawley Worthing Horsham Chichester Bognor Regis LittlehamptonLocation: West Sussex Subject: Functional Skills (English & Maths) Start Date: September Hours: Flexible Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour Type: 1:1 Tuition Requirements Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles Experience delivering or supporting Functional Skills English and/or Maths Ability to adapt sessions to meet individual learning needs Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable Strong communication and relationship-building skills Patient, reliable, and engaging approach Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within West Sussex Who You'll Support You'll work with children and young people who may have: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs ADHD Anxiety and school avoidance EHCPs and additional educational needsEach learner requires a personalised approach, allowing tutors to build confidence, encourage independence, and help young people achieve positive outcomes.
