Azure Migration Engineer (VMware to Azure Local)
Contract | 6 Months | Remote | Up to £500 per day
Role Overview
Our client, a manufacturing organisation, is looking for an experienced Azure Migration Engineer to lead the migration of virtual machine workloads from VMware to Azure Local Stack. This is a hands-on contract covering the full migration lifecycle — from discovery and planning through execution, cutover, and post-migration optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and design the VM to Azure migration strategy
* Migrate application VMs from VMware to Azure Local Stack
* Troubleshoot VM conversion, networking, storage, and compatibility issues
* Conduct migration discovery, dependency analysis, and readiness assessments
* Execute cutovers and coordinate migration activities with stakeholders
* Perform post-migration validation, optimisation, and issue resolution
* Ensure compliance with security, backup, DR, and governance standards
Requirements
* Proven experience delivering VMware to Azure migrations
* Strong hands-on experience with Azure Local Stack
* Experience supporting Azure migrations within manufacturing environments
* Solid understanding of VM conversion, networking, and storage compatibility issues
* Experience coordinating cutover activities with cross-functional stakeholders
* Awareness of security, backup, DR, and governance frameworks
