The Role You will be responsible for: • Taking overall operational responsibility for live groundworks and civil engineering projects • Maintaining a strong presence across sites and ensuring teams are properly resourced • Managing Site Managers and holding them accountable for programme and performance • Producing and managing rolling 6-week lookahead programmes • Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractors • Identifying potential delays and putting recovery measures in place • Working closely with QSs to monitor costs, variations, dayworks and completed works • Ensuring contractual notices are raised promptly under NEC and JCT contracts What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have: • 10+ years' experience within groundworks and civil engineering • A strong engineering / operational background • Experience working within a contractor operating around £10m–£15m turnover • Proven experience managing multiple projects or packages from start to completion • Strong programme management and planning ability • Experience managing labour, plant, materials and subcontractors • Good commercial awareness and confidence dealing with variations and contractual notices • A stable employment history and a proven track record in operational delivery Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware, proactive and confident on site, with the presence to lead teams, challenge where necessary and keep projects moving.
