Job Description
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) supports patients with their day-to-day care and helps nurses and other healthcare professionals provide safe, comfortable treatment.
Typical Healthcare Assistant Job Role
* Personal care: Helping patients with washing, dressing, toileting, eating, and mobility.
* Patient support: Providing reassurance, companionship, and emotional support.
* Monitoring: Checking and reporting changes in a patient's condition, such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, or oxygen levels when trained to do so.
* Mobility: Helping patients move safely, including using mobility aids and following moving-and-handling procedures.
* Nutrition: Assisting with meals and drinks and recording food or fluid intake when required.
* Infection control: Following hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning, and infection-prevention procedures.
* Documentation: Accurately recording care provided and reporting concerns to nurses or senior staff.
* Teamwork: Working with nurses, doctors, therapists, patients, and families.
* Safety: Maintaining patient dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding, and a safe care environment.
* Other duties: Preparing equipment, making beds, supporting clinical procedures within your training, and keeping care areas clean and organised.

1. Up to date DBS
2. Mandatory Trainings with Practical Moving and Handling Training with Certificate
