SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD – Dartford Location: Dartford, Kent Salary: £90–£100 per day Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Start date: 21 September 2026 An inclusive school in Dartford is looking for a patient and observant SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism spectrum disorder. This long-term opportunity is suited to someone who can provide predictable, individualised support while encouraging communication, independence and participation. You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team in a structured environment with a strong focus on pupil wellbeing. Support may be delivered one-to-one, in small groups or within the classroom according to need. Your responsibilities will include: Using visual timetables, now-and-next boards and structured routines Adapting learning activities to pupils’ communication and sensory needs Supporting emotional regulation, transitions and social interaction Encouraging independence without removing appropriate support Recording progress and contributing to individual support plans Following safeguarding and positive-behaviour procedures The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD will have: Recent experience supporting autistic children or young people An understanding of communication and sensory differences A calm, consistent and flexible approach Relevant training such as PECS, Makaton or Team Teach, advantageous The right to work in the UK What this role offers: A structured and supportive setting with an experienced SEN team A long-term placement offering continuity with pupils and colleagues Opportunities to strengthen your autism-support and communication practice Why work via Transparency Education?
