Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Estimator Location: Wickford, Essex (working from home available) Hours: 08:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday Salary: £65,000 (depending on skills/experience) A UK building services provider delivering solutions in Mechanical, Electrical and Refrigeration services committed to delivering excellence through out with a forward-thinking approach. We are looking for a mechanical estimator to join our estimating team and work alongside our current electrical estimator working on predominately commercial, retail and light industrial sectors with typical project values £50,000 to £1,500,000. The successful candidate should be comfortable with receiving a tender at stage 3 or higher and complying a complete and thorough tender to be reviewed by the commercial team. Job Description (This list is not exhaustive): • Carrying out material take-offs • Obtaining sub-contractor and supplier quotations • Utilising estimating software (Trimble contract master) to build quotation. • Reviewing tender information to highlight any necessary tender clarification. • Develop cost plan and budget estimates. • Attend site visits and pre / post tender interviews. • Accurately complete take offs for mechanical and public health systems. • Review tender information and compile tender queries. • Produce bill of materials in the company estimating system. • Prepare and distribute tender requests to sub- contractors reviewing quotations and analysing for best suitability. • Obtaining plant and materials quotations, reviewing and analysing for best suitability. • Reviewing tender specifications and documentation to ensure tender is prepared inline with requirements. • Producing tender clarifications • Attending site visits / tender interviews Desirable Qualifications in any of the following: • Amtech estimating course • Mechanical trade course such as city & guilds with time served experience • HND/HNC in mechanical or public health engineering. • Ability to work on own initiative • Ability to deal with high work volumes and prioritise accordingly • Practical and can-do approach and professional when communicating • Excellent time management and ability to multitask • Good work ethic with an energetic approach • Flexibility and commitment • Technical knowledge of current mechanical regulations. • Understanding RIBA design stages. • Knowledge of current market costs for mechanical works. • Proven track record in mechanical estimating. Skills • A solid understanding of the operations of mechanical and public health systems. • Knowledge of the requirements of full working mechanical and public health systems in order to identify and gaps between tender drawings and functional operations. • Ideally come from a trade back ground to help with the ability to review labour allowances and so assess if they are sufficient for the works
