Technical Sales Engineer

We are working with a well-established specialist manufacturing business to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer to join their small, close-knit team. Why Join? The business specialises in the manufacture of cold-drawn copper tube and operates within the non-ferrous metals sector. The Role This is a varied technical sales position combining new business development with existing account management. The role can be field-based, with the focus firmly on winning and developing business rather than being office-based. Key responsibilities will include: * Developing new business opportunities and growing existing customer accounts * Building and maintaining strong, long-term customer relationships * Understanding customer requirements, technical specifications and engineering drawings * Providing technically credible solutions to customers * Preparing and understanding product costings and commercial structures * Identifying opportunities for account growth and development * Visiting customers and prospects as required * Working closely with the internal team to ensure customer requirements are delivered * Supporting the continued growth of the business About You We are looking for someone with a technical sales background who can confidently understand specifications, drawings and technical products. You may already be working in technical sales, engineering sales, manufacturing sales or a related technical commercial role. You will ideally have: * Experience in technical sales or a technically focused commercial role * The ability to read and understand technical drawings/specifications * An understanding of product costing and commercial structures * Strong communication and relationship-building skills * A proactive approach to new business development * The confidence to work independently in a field-based environment * A genuine interest in understanding the technical side of the products you sell Experience with copper, brass, copper-nickel, non-ferrous metals or yellow metals would be advantageous, but is not essential as full product and industry knowledge can be developed.
