Derby | Quality Inspector - Weekends We are looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team at our Derby site. Salary💷 £15.98 per hour + 40% shift allowance Hours: Friday – Sunday : 6.00am - 18.00pm Benefits * Competitive salary * Company pension scheme * 25 days annual leave + 8 statutory holidays, Christmas shut down * BUPA Health care * Free onsite parking * Death in Service benefit * Long Service awards Purpose of role and key accountabilities: * To provide Quality and Inspection support for both existing and new business opportunities and to develop the Right First-Time philosophy required to become a leading supplier of quality components to the aerospace industry * Maintain quality control within the manufacturing process, in line with business standards and customer requirements * Check and verify the compliance of components produced at all stages within business * Identify reoccurring quality issues and communicate them to the Senior Team Leader along with recommendations * Assist with root cause analysis, using 5 Whys and Ishikawa. * Identify and report any non-conformances * Support, develop and improve the relationship internally between departments * Support and promote improvement activities to directly benefit our products and inspection processes * To work within cross functional teams to support business development, growth and improvement projects as required. * Working to ISO 50001 / 14001 / 45001 / 9001 standards Core skills/attributes needed: * Experience in an inspection / manufacturing environment * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications * Technical knowledge & experience within the aerospace sector preferred * Competent in using the following equipment: verniers, micrometers, bore micrometers, height gauges, DTI (Digital Test Indicators); * Experience in a quality control environment preferred * Working to ISO 9001 and ISO 5001 * Experience with inspecting Machined, Fabricated, Treated and Assembled parts. * Attention to detail * Ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision * CMM experience advantageous but not essential * Excellent IT Skills The employee must also strive to support the elements of the SQCDP framework of the wider Gardner business; Safety: work in line with all accredited company safety standards to provide a safe working environment for all Quality: support the quality accreditations across the business to ensure delivery of a ‘right first time’ performance Cost: support the continuous improvements in cost reduction activities across the company to deliver increased profitability and value for money to our customers and stakeholders Delivery: drive improvement in delivery performance to continually exceed customer expectations and targets People: support organizational capability and influence cultural change by embracing diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and community NOTE: Due to the nature of this role and the security requirements linked to projects with the UK Ministry of Defence, applicants must be eligible for UK Security Clearance
