GCSE English Tutor - Chester
Location: Chester
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated GCSE English Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition to a young person in Chester.
We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can make sessions engaging while helping the learner strengthen their English skills and prepare for their GCSE studies.
Responsibilities
Deliver personalised GCSE English tuition
Plan lessons according to the learner's current ability
Support development across reading, writing and comprehension
Identify and address gaps in knowledge
Build learner confidence and motivation
Monitor progress throughout the tuition programme
Adapt resources and teaching methods as required
Essential Criteria
Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE English
Good understanding of the GCSE English curriculum
Previous experience working with young people
Excellent communication skills
Ability to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons
QTS, PGCE or relevant teaching experience is desirable
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Right to Work in the UK
Two professional references involving work with children
