The Opportunity
We are seeking a specialist BMS / EMS Subject Matter Expert with genuine pharmaceutical GMP experience to support a major new manufacturing development in Virginia.
This is not simply a commercial building-management position. The BMS/EMS systems will operate within a validated GMP environment, making previous experience designing, specifying, implementing and commissioning BMS/EMS systems within pharmaceutical manufacturing essential.
The successful candidate will take an established concept and progress the BMS/EMS scope through subsequent design, installation and commissioning phases.
Responsibilities
* Act as SME for BMS and EMS systems across a multi-building GMP development.
* Progress established BMS/EMS concepts through detailed engineering and implementation.
* Develop and review BMS/EMS design specifications and technical requirements.
* Ensure systems meet GMP and validation requirements.
* Review BMS descriptions of operation and EMS User Requirement Specifications.
* Review control strategies, system architecture, instrumentation and interfaces.
* Work with HVAC, utilities, electrical, controls and C&Q teams to ensure successful system integration.
* Review design-contractor drawings, specifications and calculations.
* Work with system integrators, vendors, design contractors and client stakeholders.
* Support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection.
* Support system installation and resolve technical queries.
* Review and support FAT and SAT activities.
* Support DQ, IQ and OQ activities where applicable.
* Provide technical support through commissioning and qualification.
* Manage BMS/EMS requirements across several buildings and simultaneous workstreams.
The original Electrical/Controls agreement specifically identifies BMS and EMS within the SME scope and requires the GMP-critical SME to prepare or assure URSs, translate requirements into engineering deliverables and support FAT, SAT, DQ, IQ, OQ, commissioning and qualification.
Candidate Requirements
* Relevant Electrical, Controls, Automation or related engineering degree.
* Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
* Genuine pharmaceutical GMP BMS/EMS experience is essential.
* Previous responsibility for design and specification of BMS/EMS systems operating within validated GMP boundaries.
* Experience following systems through design, installation, commissioning and qualification.
* Strong understanding of environmental monitoring requirements within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
* Experience working with design contractors, system integrators and automation vendors.
* Strong understanding of interfaces between BMS/EMS, HVAC, utilities and automation systems.
* Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management capability.
* Previous major CAPEX/project experience.
* Ability to manage multiple simultaneous project workstreams.
* Willingness to spend extended periods onsite in Virginia when required
