Electroplater – Immediate Start Location: Basildon, Essex – SS13 1LP Pay: £600 per week + overtime Permanent position Start: Immediate – must be available to start immediately Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm | Friday 8:00am–2:00pm Overtime: Available We are looking for an experienced Electroplater for a specialist engineering and surface-treatment company based in Basildon. The company specialises in hard chrome plating, electroless nickel plating and PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coatings for precision engineering components and tooling. Their specialist processes provide high-performance finishes designed to improve wear resistance, hardness, corrosion resistance and component life. The Role This is a permanent position working on a large customer order.You will be working on engineering components and carrying out chrome plating processes to the required specification and quality standards. Duties include: * Preparing components for chrome plating. * Cleaning, degreasing and surface preparation. * Setting up and operating chrome plating tanks and associated equipment. * Carrying out hard chrome plating processes. * Monitoring plating processes and bath conditions. * Achieving the required coating thickness, coverage and finish. * Inspecting components before and after plating. * Identifying plating defects and quality issues. * Carrying out masking and component preparation where required. * Following COSHH, PPE and chemical handling procedures. * Working safely in an industrial plating environment. * Completing production and quality records. Essential Experience Previous hands-on chrome plating experience is essential. We are looking for someone with 2–5 years' electroplating experience who can come into the role and become productive quickly. You must have: * Proven experience operating chrome plating equipment. * Good knowledge of hard chrome plating processes. * Experience preparing components for plating. * Understanding of coating thickness, coverage and surface finish. * Ability to identify plating defects. * Good attention to detail. * Strong health & safety awareness. Candidates without previous electroplating experience will not be considered. Pay & Overtime Basic pay: £600 per week + overtime Working hours: * Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–5:00pm * Friday: 8:00am–2:00pm Overtime rates: * Weekday overtime: 1.33× * Saturday: 1.5× * Sunday: 1.5x
