Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, operating forklifts safely, and supporting shipping and receiving operations. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse management systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to perform heavy lifting. The ideal applicant will have previous warehouse experience and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organised work environment.
Duties
* Operate forklifts to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse
* Manage inventory using warehouse management systems accurately
* Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including verifying shipments and preparing goods for dispatch
* Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance as needed to ensure operational safety
* Handle materials with care, ensuring proper stacking and storage to prevent damage or accidents
* Support overall warehouse organisation by maintaining cleanliness and orderliness
* Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor equipment issues promptly
* Conduct basic maths calculations for inventory counts and measurements
* Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times during operations
Experience
* Proven experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse environment
* Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is highly desirable
* Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance procedures beneficial
* Experience in materials handling, shipping, and receiving processes preferred
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs on equipment
* Ability to lift heavy loads safely and efficiently on a regular basis
* Previous warehouse experience demonstrating organisational skills and attention to detail
Salary & Terms
* £13.21 per hour
* Monday to Sunday – usually Friday off
* Morning 4 or 5 am start
* Immediate start
